Josie Geddes
BABCP-Accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist
I am a BABCP-accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist with over 15 years’ experience working in addiction services, where my early clinical work sparked a deep and lasting interest in the treatment of complex trauma and complex emotional difficulties. I began my counselling training in 2003, progressing to a degree in Short-Term Psychodynamic Counselling and CBT, followed by a Postgraduate Diploma in High Intensity CBT. I am accredited by the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP).
Alongside CBT, I have trained in Attachment-Focused EMDR, Compassion Focused Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and I am accredited in Mentalisation-Based Therapy. I currently work within an NHS mental health team supporting individuals with complex emotional needs, including those diagnosed with EUPD/BPD.
A particular area of interest in my work is helping clients build and strengthen their soothing system to support emotional regulation, develop a greater sense of internal safety, and expand their window of tolerance. I integrate attachment-informed and compassion-focused approaches to complement CBT, supporting clients to move from surviving towards feeling more grounded, secure, and resilient.
I established my private practice in 2014, where I offer a range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches tailored to each individual. I genuinely enjoy working collaboratively with clients to make sense of their difficulties and find practical, meaningful ways to alleviate psychological distress and create lasting change.
